“You Too Can Talk Horse”
Guest – Elaine Cardillo from Long Island, New York
Part 1 – The best way to learn how horses communicate is by simply observing them. Horseplay is instinctual to the horse. This is how they create the pecking order. As horses play/communicate, Elaine describes what they are doing.
Part 2 – Being that horse communication is instinctual; humans can take advantage of this and mimic horseplay. Elaine demonstrates exercises with “Murph” that imitate horseplay. If you can learn a little bit of the horse’s language your relationship will be that much easier and better.
Part 3 – Elaine continues to mimic horseplay, specifically driving exercises.
Part 4 – More horseplay with Murph. Elaine communicates with Murph to walk around her and sideways.
Part 5 – You too can talk horse. Elaine explains how successful the session was. It may look slow but that is how it starts. If you can learn a little bit of the horse’s language, your relationship with them will be that much better and safer.

“Developing a Relationship with a Dominant Horse”
Guest – Elaine Cardillo from Long Island, New York
In the horse world, at some point, you will come across a horse that can be difficult to work with. In this episode of “Talkin’ Horses”, Elaine Cardillo will discuss and demonstrate several techniques that will help you overcome a dominant horse.
Part 1 – Eileen and Elaine discuss what a dominant horse is. To gain respect and leadership, Elaine begins a first time round pen session with “Murph”, a dominant horse.
Part 2 – Elaine continues the initial roundpen session with “Murph”. Unfortunately the session was not successful.
Part 3 – Eileen and Elaine discuss why the session did not work and what to do next. There is more than one technique that can be used for gaining initial leadership or any other training for that matter.
Part 4 – Elaine continues making herself interesting to “Murph”.
Part 5 – Elaine continues to gain respect by making “Murph” move his feet.
Part 6 – While sitting on the fence of the roundpen, Elaine continues to play with “Murph”, directing him to move his feet. These exercises all lead to a successful “latching on”. Finally, the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
